Tempo Miles

Along with being active on Twitter (X) I started a Coaching Distance TikTok & am trying to do some more posts on Instagram. Hopefully you can pick up an idea or two to use with your team.
Today, I posted about a workout we did last week that I called "Tempo Miles". We did this workout during the early part of the track season and I wanted to come back to it in the summer as I thought it was a good foundational workout where we could build from in any direction. We could run it faster, extend it into longer repetitions, like 2 mile repeats or even make it a continuous tempo run at that same pace.

So, here's the details for the Tempo Miles:
Volume / 10% of weekly mileage
Pace/Intensity / 1600m + 90s (could drop down 5s each time you do the workout)
Recovery / 1-2' walk
Obviously this workout wasn't hard by any means, but "hard" should never be the purpose of a workout anyway.
